Tales From The Chair - June

Your monthly round up of everything I’ve been discovering and sharing with clients, straight from the salon chair . . .

Locally this month I visited a couple of new-to-me but not- really-that-new-anymore gems including Black Salt Indian restaurant in Sheen (Jay Rayner’s recent review in The Guardian has certainly helped to elevate what was already proving to be a succesful hotspot on Upper Richmond Road) and Wylies Coffee in St Margarets with its secret, sun trap courtyard and delicious bakes (The banana and walnut loaf is very good)

On the subject of bakes, a recent trip home to the motherland meant I absolutely had to check out Tynemouth newcomer Toast and make a pit stop for one of their snickers pain au chocolate - I mean what a bloody marvellous creation! A little too conveniently located just a stone’s throw from my new Facial residency at Swiss Physio. Whilst in the area, dinner at Rileys Fish Shack was also a must. There’s nowhere quite like it for fresh seafood and stunning views out to sea.

One of my very first facial guests that I welcomed to my new residency in the North East was Steph of Jasmine Wellbeing. Steph teaches yoga in Tynemouth from a beautiful sailing club venue with panoramic sea views and sometimes even pop up classes down on the beach itself.

You can click here to read her blog all about her Coastal Calm Facial experience with me.

On the beauty front, a recent training session with Patchology introduced me to their incredible gloss to balm lip treatment ‘Lip Service’ (£12/9ml) Formulated with hyaluronic acid, aloe and honey, the texture is sublime and it has a cooling, minty-ness to it, it’s a new firm fave!

And Aromatherapy Associates Revive shower oil (£28/250ml Space NK) been setting off Summer mornings on the right track with it’s uplifting essential oil blend of grapefruit, rosemary and juniper-berry, the very best way to start the day!

A Waiter In Paris is the book that I currently have my nose stuck in, ‘Adventures in the dark heart of the city’ by Edward Chisholm. A memoir about a young Englishman’s time spent working The French capital waiting tables. An impulsive purchase while recently visiting St Albans for the very first time and happening upon the most delightful little independent store, Books On The Hill.
