New Colour Clients

WELCOME!

As a professional Artist, Helen puts your safety first.

All new clients wishing to book in for any kind of colouring service will be required to have an introductory colour consultation and an allergy alert test (AAT) with Helen at least 72 hours before an appointment can take place.

This is mandatory to validate insurance so there are no exemptions.

A colour consultation is £15 payable upfront.

If you wish to proceed with an appointment after consultation, £15 can be redeemed from your colour service.

Colour Consultation

The consultation will enable you to discuss your hair colour history, desires and expectations and determine compatibility in working together.

Any industry tests that may be required can be carried out during consultation and a quote will be given for the work discussed.

Inspiration pictures can be useful to show your likes/dislikes during consultation.

Allergy Alert Test (AAT)

Allergies although rare, can occur unexpectedly and develop over a period of time so it is possible that you could suffer an allergic reaction even if you have not had one in the past.

What happens during the test?

2 small dots of black hair dye will be painted onto the skin on the crook of the elbow.

You must keep your arm straight and still during this time to prevent smudging.

The dye will be left in place and remain wet for 45 mins.

You may wait in the salon and enjoy a tea/coffee to pass the time or if you live within walking distance you may head home (although you will not be able to put a jacket on while the dye remains wet on your arm!)

After 45 mins, the area will be rinsed and dried and you should continue to monitor it for 2 days, reporting any signs of redness or itching asap if any should occur.

As long as there is no reaction then you can proceed with a colouring service.

Points To Note

The consultation/allergy alert test must take place at least 72 hours but not longer than 7 days before a colour appointment can go ahead.

Please remember to wear short sleeved (ideally dark coloured) clothing that exposes the crook of the elbow.

The test will leave 2 small stains on the skin that will gradually wear off after a few days.

It’s generally best to reach out to Helen to discuss availability for a consultation first before making the actual colour appointment to ensure there’s enough lead time to accommodate both.

Colour Appointments

Service time - Helen will take great care and precision when carrying out colour services. Please allow between 3-5 hours depending on the exact services booked (timings can also be viewed on the booking confirmation)

Clothing - Ideally it’s best to avoid wearing hoodies, polo necks or anything with a big collar for your hair appointment. Although every effort will be made to protect your clothing during colour application and removal, if you are having dark colour applied, it’s generally a good idea to wear a dark colour too.
