Tales From The Chair - April

Your monthly round up of everything I’ve been discussing and discovering straight from the salon chair . . .

LOCAL

The terrace at Scotts is now officially open just in time for the Summer months. Launch night was celebrated with cocktails, canapes and a beautiful sunset over the river Thames. What a view!

Lark has opened, a short walk from the salon (next to Gails) a family run, independent business, providing beautiful products for your lifestyle and home. Super handy if you need to pick up a nice card or little gift at short notice.

If you’re in the Twickenham area and fancy an immunity boosting beverage, head to The Juice Corner at Joe’s Reformer Pilates for fresh juice, super food smoothies and vitamin loaded shots.

Stopped by new Teddington cafe Marez for brunch, it’s a cute little place with a good variety of dishes and very welcoming hospitality, a nice new addition to the high street.

BEAUTY BITS

I bought this Elnett Satin volumising Creme De Mousse on a whim and ended up loving it! Super lightweight and not at all sticky it helps build volume as you blow dry, holds bounce and body and smells delicious. £6.50/ 200ml.

TABLE TALK

I recently said bon voyage to a friend (and my dignity) with martinis at London institution Dukes Bar at Dukes hotel St James. Oh.My.God! Their infamous, ice cold martinis are made in theatrical fashion from a trolley by your table and are so strong, they are limited to just 2 per person (I had 2 and now I understand why!)

Mon-Sat, 3-10pm, tables are first come fist served for non hotel guests so expect to wait to be seated.

STYLE SPY

This month I’m loving . . .

This sunshine stripe ‘aperol’ knit, from Ando Stores, £69,

Vivi Mari raincoats £89, (lots of great colours and prints to choose from)

and this WAT the brand, super soft, wide leg, pine green lounge set, joggers £55, sweat £52

RECENTLY WATCHED

Aftersun a gorgeous portrayal of the relationship between a Father and Daughter that flits between past and present. Like nothing I have seen before, it moves you in ways you can’t really make sense of, keeps you glued with a permanent unease that something bad is about to happen and leaves you with a sense of melancholy that resulted in me breaking down into delayed sobs a good 10 minutes after it ended. Worth a watch! Paul Mescal and Frankie Corio are just perfect together on screen.

OVER TO YOU

Pro Make-Up Artist Rose recommended Rare Beauty positive light under eye brightener £23, for a fresh, radiant wide awake look for tired eyes.

Thanks for reading, I hope you discovered something new and interesting!
