Tales From The Chair - May

Your monthly round up of everything I’ve been discussing and discovering straight from the salon chair . . .

LOCAL

1910 Coffee House is a sweet little spot on the Hampton Wick side of Kingston bridge, perfectly positioned for a moment of calm while out shopping or as a detour from a wander through Bushy Park.

SKINCARE FAVES

This month I have been loving using Mario Badescu Facial Spray with aloe, herbs and rosewater. I like to spritz it into palms and press into skin before applying hydrating serum and I also used it to soothe a patch of sunburn on my neck when I got caught out recently. £11.50/236ml at Cult Beauty.

STYLE SPY

For your home:

Meredith Adams star plate, £35, from Style Your Spaces. Far too pretty to eat from but would look lovely mounted on a wall!

On our recent trip to San Francisco I stocked up on Chicago based Tatine artisan candles from the Stars are Fire collection.

Soft Fragrant Fires for After Dark or Dreamy Afternoons.”

Ahh they speak my language and I just adore everything about this brand! The packaging details, the poetic descriptions, the exquisite perfume blends and the fact that the mouth blown glass vessels are intentionally crafted to be drink safe so that they can live on after life as a candle! They even suggest flattening the card boxes and using them to scent drawers. I opted for Daydream, Forest Floor (my fave! Sooo earthy and good!!) and Hashish as little scent memories of our US adventure.

After a bit of googling I found a UK stockist - Osmology - who actually showcase an assortment of globally acclaimed candle brands including some Tatine gems!

For your wardrobe:

Have you tried Uniqlo’s Airism leggings? I really rate them! Thick enough to stay opaque, super soft, comfy, matte fabric, quick dry technology, cool touch and UV protection and pockets! Plus they don’t roll down at the waist. What’s not to love?! Great value too at £24.90.

Colin From Accounts on BBC IPlayer. An Aussie rom-com series in which junior doctor Ashley and brewery owner Gordon are brought together in a strange twist of fate. I can’t say it was an instant hit but, I persevered and ended up loving this show with its black humour and dry sarcasm.
